1303367 Combustion apparatus G FONDABONARDI 10 Dec 1970 58567/70 Heading F1L In a method of operating a thermo-dynamic engine, heat energy is supplied to a gaseous working fluid, the fluid being accelerated to the speed of sound before the heat energy is supplied, the fluid being maintained at that speed while the heat is supplied. The heated gaseous fluid is utilised in a device such as a turbine or a propulsion nozzle. In one embodiment heat is supplied by burning fuel in an air flow; in another embodiment heat is added by injecting water droplets the water being at a temperature greater than the gas temperature.
